Relaxing a bit
Aug. 6th, 2009 02:03 amJust relaxing some at the moment, doing a bit of prep work for the Hunter game, and pondering a mystery of the universe: "Who is annoyed more by the 'Paul is dead' running joke, Beatles fans or non-Beatles fans?"
The Hunter LARP has been on a slight unintentional hiatus during the last couple of weeks, because most of my more reliable players have left town at similar times, which makes for some attendance difficulties. But it'll be nice to come in fresh anyhow, even if it means that we'll be missing next week because I'll be at Gencon.
Speaking of which, who all is going to be there? I know
turtledance,
mythdude,
jesshartley, and
innocent_man are going to be there (even if for just a day or two). Is anyone else going who happens to read this journal?
I'm working out my L5R plans. I've got a deck, of sorts, but I'm not expecting it to do well. Having access to other players for playtesting around here is very difficult, and my card collection isn't what it could be (I missed out on most of Glory of the Empire), so I've been getting by with online L5R software in solitaire mode for test draws and such. That said, I'm signed up for both of the preliminary tournaments but am seriously toying with the idea of dropping out of the second one based on my performance in the first so I get a bit more time for the exhibition hall (I always feel awkward calling it that, given that it has pretty much the same function as what they call the "dealer's room" at furry conventions) and friends and such. L5R tourneys, unless you drop early (which I rarely do, no matter how badly I'm doing) tend to pretty much run the whole day.
Anyhow, if people want to know more about my Gencon schedule, they can ask.
In unrelated news, I'd like to draw your attention to the relaunch of Stew Wilson's RPG Æternal Legends. He describes it better than I would be able to in this post, in which he also provides a link to a free PDF copy that in turn has a 'coupon' of sorts for the print edition.
Anyhow, I think that's it for me for the moment. Later.
