First off, a meme I haven't taken in a while, but was updated...

By dictator standards, you're not that bad. Sure you almost started world war 3, but the treatment of your people is moderate. You're a saint compared to the guy before you that you kicked out, so your people tolerate you. However, you're ability to stand up to America has made you one of the more popular dictators. Hardly a movie star… but hay, it's a start!

What tin-pot dictator are you? Take the "What Dictator am I?" test at PoisonedMinds.com

And yeah, I know, I haven't put up the latest LARP write-ups. I'm lazy, and I guess I was slacking off since neither of the LARPs are meeting this weekend (ToD since it's the last weekend of the month, and Night Lair because of Halloween). So here we go... (and note, there's a link in there that leads to some of my in-character writing, keep an eye out)

Yeah, that's right. The Changing Breeds, having heard that the Mages apparently needed their help taking care of a major threat, went into town to speak with them. I'm not exactly going to replay the conversations, word for word, especially since I kept getting called away for Narrator stuff (some of you know what I'm talking about), but the Mages did a lot of talking without actually saying anything.

The shapeshifters, quite frankly, are suspicious at best about the whole thing. One way or the other, they're pretty sure the Mages are trying to screw them.

Actually, since there are more than a few WoD players who read my journal, I have a question to ask since I'm sure they all know about Mage better than I do. There was a Hermetic at the game who scanned me, saw what I was, and tried to convince me that I should more or less trust him because apparently the Order of Hermes is 'on good terms with the spirits.' Now, I'm pretty sure that the Mage practice of 'suck the caerns dry' isn't as common as it once was, for various reasons, but that's just a new one on me. As I'm not a fan of letting books dictate how my characters think and feel like there's a formula to it, but is there really anything in canon to indicate that the Garou even care about the difference between the Mage Traditions beyond 'Dreamspeaker/Verbena/Other?' Or was the Hermetic just confused (possibly in-character)?

So there was a fair bit of conversation that more or less established that the Mages wanted us in on taking down some huge threat, but they didn't want to tell us anything useful about it. Naturally, we're less than interested in being cannon fodder for them.

There was some more interaction with various folks... in particular, a newcomer to town by the name of Albert. He's played by Ed, who plays LaMont at ToD. Albert's interesting... he doesn't register as Wyrm-tainted, at least, he can sense shapeshifters and recognize Kitsune, and the character speaks Japanese. ICly, Sasayaki found it pretty comforting to be able to talk to someone new in a tongue he was familiar with.

We also had a run-in with a Baali who's been hideously deformed in some sort of incident... his presence kind of freaked out one of the other Kitsune, Tsukamu. He went back to the caern and more or less called out a blood hunt on the vampire because he's hideously deformed and his very presence kills plant life. Not that I blame him. I'm all about taking down vampires, personally.

Not a whole lot else happened after that that immediately springs to mind-- at least, nothing that wasn't covered in my Friends-only post the other night.

And now, a discussion at the caern. Just for the record, this is one of the few times you'll see my Glass Walker and my Kitsune interacting, particularly in the same post.

Yeah, I'm trying to get into the habit of saying 'Sorceror' rather than 'Hedge Mage,' even though that's the term they use in the book we're using. Due to past problems with regular Mages in ToD, the phrase 'Hedge Mage' carries with it some loaded baggage.

So the Sorcerors talked amongst ourselves, trying to work out how to deal with the supernaturals in our midst. We mingled among them, aware of the fact that they were doing everything in their power to either ignore us or make it look like they were ignoring us.

We sat down and talked some more, making sure we knew each others' capabilities and speculating more about what we were dealing with. Our conclusion? Either the vampires (of course, we weren't sure about them being vampires yet, ICly) were casually brushing us off out of incompetence or arrogance, we weren't sure which. They obviously weren't willing to try talking things out, so we'd have to more or less dig in for the long haul.

A couple of us decided to take the initiative in figuring out what we're dealing with. They got access to one of the college's engineering buildings-- and when I say 'got access,' I mean 'broke in'-- and swiped a thermographic scope. We drove back to Woodburn Hall with it, looked through the scope at the crowd... and saw a couple of dozen people wandering around with no body-heat.

We explained this revelation to Michael, the Sorceror that Chaz is playing, and he said he already knew. He'd apparently taken the direct approach and worked out what was going on. So now we have to deal with how we're going to keep the vampires from eating us.

The biggest problem is that during the week, one of the Sorcerors had spotted one of the Vampires feeding on a mortal (in an in-character post on the board that they put up). This is an obvious breach in security, and the Sorcerors have figured out that the vampires' political situation is pretty shaken up at the moment. And then we met LaMont.

Michael and LaMont had a bit of a talk while the rest of us just kind of talked among ourselves. After this, Michael called LaMont one of the smoothest folks he'd ever met and told us that we were all in deep trouble. After all, there was a security problem in town, and the vampires were planning on fixing it. Naturally, when I say 'security problem' I mean 'us,' and when I say 'fix,' I mean 'kill.'

So I'm pretty sure we spent most of the rest of the night discussing defense and security issues, but my recollection's a bit funny.

So yeah, that's it. Catch you folks later.
