Just some randomness
Jun. 16th, 2004 04:57 pmI meant to mention something about the Garou/Mage LARP I attend on Sunday... it kind of bugs me how closely some folks stick to rules that don't inherently make sense.
In this game, for example, we have a few other Changing Breeds running around. We have a Gurahl who hangs out with the Garou on a regular basis, a couple of Mokole, and a couple of Bastet. Now, as those of you familiar with Werewolf know, knowledge of the Fera isn't necessarily a common thing. In the game, it's required that a character have a few levels of Garou Lore in order to know anything of worth about the Fera. But it's been ruled that this applies to the very knowledge of their existence.
Now, Eric's normally a pretty good storyteller, but it's gonna take a lot to rationalize that because I don't have three levels of Garou Lore, I'm going to spontaneously forget what a Gurahl is the moment one leaves the room. It came up at game on Sunday, and while I'm not one to go out of my way to argue with ST's, it's a bit of a pain in the ass. He flat-out said that unless you have enough Garou Lore to inherently know about the Fera, it doesn't matter if a Gurahl or Bastet tells you the entire history of his changing breed (although that would give you good justification to spend XP on such Lore, I guess), the moment they're gone your character is more or less forced to rationalize them as either 'some lower creature that should be destroyed as it as an abomination unto Gaia' or 'wow, that's a funny looking werewolf.'
Looks like just to save myself a headache I now have a direction to aim some of the experience points I've been racking up.
