mythicfox: (Book n Bean)

Yeah, I hit the Book n Bean earlier. Got a little bit of writing done, although not as much as I'd like. One of the more annoying kooks who sometimes shows up there came by and more or less made it impossible to focus on what I was working on.

I still got a fair bit done, though, and if anyone wants me to it might be possible to convince me to post an excerpt on here.

And before I get into LARPing stuff, a meme. Why? Because I can.

We kind of wandered into town, as per usual. It was a bit of a confusing night, and Zac's Bastet and my Kitsune spent most of our time keeping our eyes on the pair of Gurahl with us, as they were constantly nodding off because of the season.

At one point, we tracked down Ezekial (Nick's Kinfolk Mage that he's playing), and he told us he wanted to help us out at the sept. He was working on a rote that would essentially sacrifice himself to help protect the caern from outside attack. With the help of Truth of Gaia, we determined that it was a genuine attempt to help us, so we talked about having him do this when he was capable of it.

We still had to deal with Olaf, who had a spirit implanted in him by Drusus in order to spy on us. We were talking about what to do about that, and Sean wandered by, watching from the Umbra as Drusus. Which led to one of the first annoyances of the night... Zac suddenly talked about continuing the conversation at the caern, when Drusus came by, and we started bitching Zac out about metagaming. He argued with us until Sean wandered off (which happened coincedentally at the same time that Zac decided to have his character keep talking about private caern stuff).

We came up with an idea to deal with Olaf. A Mage put a spirit in the Garou, and we figured that a Mage could take it out. We tracked down Ezekial and asked if he could remove the spirit that had been implanted into him. He said he'd give it a shot.

We dragged Sean over for this, since Drusus would know that something's up ICly and we needed him for the stats on the implanted spirit OOCly. Ezekial tried, but wasn't able to remove the spirit. And Drusus retaliated with a pretty nasty magical blast. He showed up in the Umbra and Ezekial stepped sideways and saw him. The two Gurahl opened up a portal and gave chase, and Gado (Zac's Simba) pulled me back because I'd misunderstood what they said and thought they wanted us to come along.

We backed off, and Ezekial caught up with us. He managed to heal himself of most of the damage, having an effect on his body that regenerated the rest. Since we weren't able to get the spirit out of Olaf's body, we told him he'd have to remain outside the caern until we could make sure he was no longer a security risk. My Kitsune at least offered to get him a tent or something so he'd be comfy out at the edge of the bawn.

There was some more talking, and we moved off to the side to talk about what to do about Drusus. The Changing Breeds decided that even with Infias' creation of his own moon, a clear blasphemy from our point of view, he was the lesser of two evils (at one point he argued that maybe he could be talked into moving that thing to another planet). At one point while we were wrapping up, Eric said OOCly that Gado would be receiving an invitation to dinner from Ed's character during the week. At which point Zac said "No way I'm going to the Kuei-Jin's house!" when he doesn't know in-character that Ed's playing one. :/ Another round of bitching about metagaming happened.

Then, shortly afterwards, there was some OOC discussion about someone who came by to talk to Zac and Eric, and game was called shortly thereafter.

Yeah. We had our usual early-game IC chat. Kevin wasn't there because Greg was sick (in fact, he was sick ICly and OOCly, really), and Rory was just kind of wandering around. He was given a talking about about not being so sensitive when we crack jokes about him being a stereotypical drunken Irishman. We discussed what abilities we know the vampires have (again, we don't know ICly for sure that they're vampires), while one of them stayed just out of sight, hidden with Obfuscate and listening with Heightened Senses. At one point we got to talking about the whole 'vampire turning into bats' thing, and it occurred to us that bats hibernate. Conclusion? We see bats in the cold weather, we do something about them. (This actually led to an OOC discussion with John, who was playing the listening Nosferatu, about the limits of Animalism, as he'd been having bats follow some of us recently)

We talked a bit, and at one point Michael went off and left Alex (Patrick's character) and I to chat with the Nosferatu still listening to us. In a much-appreciated bit of not-metagaming, he actually mentioned that if he practiced enough, he could master his offensive powers and figuratively open up the gates of Hell (Master-level Hellfire). I'm sure that bit of information's been distributed throughout Morgantown's vampire population.

Rory came by and needed Alex for something. I sat around and they wandered off, and I talked to Ivy, a vampire I'd talked to previously to give her some basic feng shui advice. She'd just happened to come by when I'd been left alone, so we chatted a bit. One of the other vampires was there, apparently as a bodyguard, just in case (it was mentioned to me OOCly that she wasn't even supposed to be talking to me ICly).

After a bit of chatting, Alex shows up and says he needs me for something. Rory had, apparently, gone out looking for werewolves, and got more or less dragged off by one (and based on the description, I knew OOCly that it was a Black Spiral Dancer). I was able to determine that at the time Rory was still alive, wasn't in any immediate danger, but he'd been taken at least a mile away. Of course, he was later chained up in the basement of the local Hive, and the character was more or less declared out of play.

Alex, a little after this, went to talk to Lamont. Apparently it had been Lamont that pointed Rory in the direction that he did, where he found the werewolves (and I'd been told that Lamont didn't know ICly or OOCly that there would be werewolves there, but that leads up to a different post). I was allowed to tag along at a safe distance. They walked around in front of Woodburn Hall, and I stood in the alcove where the front doors of the building were located. While I was there, they started being gunned down by silenced sniper fire.

I put up a Ward and blocked the alcove as best I could from further attacks. Alex was killed, and Lamont was severely hurt. One thing that I noticed and pointed out ICly was that there was definitely something going on... after all, when we got shot at before by folks going after the vampires, they used incendiary rounds. These snipers didn't (since then, I've figured out and have had confirmed OOC that Lamont set up the sniper attack as a way of getting Alex to a lab to analyze him).

Afterwards, Lamont and I had a bit of a talk about recent events, during which he started to hit me with some Presence and Dominate to make me trust him and begin the process of using Conditioning on me. Oy. Game was called shortly after that, leaving me with some things to think about.

I might have a Friends-Only post to run by you folks later, asking for some advice. Just so you know. But for now, catch ya later.

Oh, by the way... does anybody here have a BattleHive, or know someone who does? I've been thinking about getting one (or asking for it for Christmas), and I wanted to get opinions on how well it works for hauling gaming stuff.
