Y'know, I don't ask for much. I only ask of my grandmother two things:
1) "Don't wait until you're completely out of everything before telling me you need to go to the store for me, because if left to your own devices you'll wait until you're out and I have a busy weekend coming up and then I have to hear you whine about it."
2) "When I have a package coming that somebody will have to sign for and I've been waiting for it for a few weeks, please keep an eye or ear out for the knocking at the door that usually goes with deliverymen showing up."
I go to the grocery store for her, make trips to pick up dinner for her so she won't have to whine about not wanting to cook, set her VCR for her on a weekly basis, and do anything that needs doing around the house. On top of her needing to tell me that she thinks something's wrong with her TV or that something's wrong with this or that when she's seen it happen fifty times and knows damn well what's wrong.
I've managed to get my first request through to her.
The second still eludes her.
I really try to think I don't ask for much. I have to plan whole evenings around her needs at times, but she doesn't have to do jack shit besides stare at the TV and take up space in her chair.
