Eh, not toasty enough
Dec. 15th, 2004 03:11 amTonight I tried Subway's sad attempt to catch up with Quizno's by asking the employee at the Subway up the block to toast my sub like they're doing now.
Sorry, not impressed.
Subway subs are pretty good, most of the time, but you can't just take the exact same sub, put it in a special toaster oven for 30 seconds, and get the same thing that Quizno's gets.
On to... other stuff.
I've been following the Werewolf: The Forsaken material, and I loved last week's fiction. Although there is one thing about this week's character previews that bugs me ever so slightly.
The signature character artwork. Now, I can understand that this stuff was commissioned before a lot of the writing was done. I know that it was drawn before it was determined that Gauru/Crinos form isn't going to be entered into lightly and for great lengths of time. But it still bugs me a little bit that it depicts nothing but Gauru/Crinos werewolves so far.
Why is this? Well, it's the novel contest, primarily, I'll admit. I mean, this is the limit of material we'll have to work with when it comes to writing synopses and sample chapters where these character are supposed to take important roles. I just think it's going to be tricky to work in one of the Werewolf sig characters when you don't know what they're going to look like outside of combat. I'm aware of the fact that the Forsaken book will be out before the deadline for Round 1 is over and before Round 2 even begins, so I'll have material to take into account for the synopsis and further material. So it's not like I'm going to have to know everything there is to know about these characters when I submit my Round 1 entry. I just don't want to have to wait to get started on this stuff just so I'll be able to get it right. I'd like to have plenty of time to edit and proofread it and all that good stuff. I'm just nervous about whether or not I'll be able to pull it off.
Maybe what it comes down to is that since I'm working on fiction already, I don't want to have to start in on a character description just to have to write "If I knew what this guy looked like, it would be at this point in the story. But going by what's available, here's what he looks like when he's eating people..."
I'm obsessing about this. I need to grab something to drink and relax.
*steps away, returns a moment later with water... and popcorn, because he can*
Okay, now for LARPing stuff. I missed Night Lair this week, because it was raining out and I didn't feel up to being out in it. The rain stopped later on and they still held game, but I hadn't checked. Also, I didn't have my cell phone on and I wasn't at home, so all attempts for people at the game to contact me failed. Oh well.

So, later, folks. Gotta get some sleep so I can work in the morning.
