Jun. 2nd, 2009 01:57 amHoly hell, it feels like May went on for about 9 weeks or so for some reason. I honestly don't know why. Yet, in individual weeks, it kept feeling like I was losing a day here and there. My relationship with the passage of time is a complicated one. Maybe I need a TARDIS. Or a sonic screwdriver. Or a question mark umbrella. Or a gawdawful multicolored coat.
Wait, skip the coat. I'm honestly not sure what I was thinking.
Anyhow, summer stuff, summer trips... I'm heading out of town for a couple of weeks in the next few months, and wanted to go over those here for folks who keep an eye on this journal.
At the end of June, from the 23rd to the 30th, I'm gonna be visiting
gwydion78 in New York and accompanying him to his daring escapegraduation from Goddard. Then I'm coming back, doing some quick preparation, and attending Anthrocon in Pittsburgh from July 2-5th.
And then in August I'm planning on attending GenCon. Speaking of which, second call for folks I know who are going and have room space downtown that I can get in on in exchange for helping with the room costs. I haven't decided whether to fly up on Wednesday or Thursday yet, if that matters -- since I'm going to have to share a room with someone to get space downtown anyways, I'm leaving my travel plans open for the moment.
As I mentioned in a past entry, this is also the same weekend as my high school's 10 year class reunion. Not that I've got any major problem with my high school or any of the folks I went to school with or anything like that. I just think I'd get more enjoyment out of a weekend of nerding it up and spending than way too much money than I would making small talk with former classmates I couldn't have picked out of a lineup 10 days after graduation, let alone 10 years. It's not a matter of comfort or anything like that as much as it is a matter of boredom. I mean, is there anything to actually do at a reunion other than make small talk with people you couldn't be bothered to keep in touch with since the last one anyways? Party games? Spare me. Free food? Meh.
Besides, the first Anthrocon I attended was 1999; that's all the 'ten-year anniversary' I need, really.
