In which we are amused by simple things

When Pirates of the Burning Sea came out, I did a trial. I found the game interesting; just not interesting enough to hold my interest so I let the trial end without subscribing.
I received an email trying to tempt me back (with a free month of play for people whose subscriptions have lapsed) that also served as an announcement that they're closing down all but two of the servers. Apparently the game works better when the servers crowded as all hell. I'm sure that's the only motivation.
