So, around here, 'White Christmases' are pretty rare. We only get one every 8-10 years or so. As I think I've previously mentioned, in this area our winters usually involve getting some snow in November or early December but it's generally gone by the holiday itself. (And then it's just bitter and cold and often rainy until late January.)

Well, this year, because of all the obnoxious weather we've had in the last few months we actually got snow last week. A good bit, almost certainly enough to last until Christmas.

And then, on Christmas eve, it warmed up just enough that the snow turned back into rain... which then washed away almost all of the snow and left things with just a few piles of slush on sidewalks and yards, literally at the last minute. And by noon or so on Christmas day, all of that had melted into nothingness as well.

And to add insult to injury, it started snowing again early on the 26th. I'm not hung up on the White Christmas thing myself, but if I was I'd be pissed. As it is, I just find it amusing.

And as a reminder, I'm going out of town this Friday (the 28th) to visit friends for New Year's and a short vacation afterwards and then I'm coming back January 9th.
