Breaking unintentional radio silence
Oct. 2nd, 2013 05:33 amI've been putting this off and putting this off because I've been lazy and half-blocked and since I just recently got a new keyboard I decided giving everyone an update as to what I've been up to would be a good opportunity to try it out.
(For those of you who are curious, the keyboard is this one. I got a Professional MX Brown and so far I'm loving the feel and the sound of it. It's a little pricy for a keyboard but I've learned from past experience that you have to order those things quick when they become available and they don't last long enough to wind up on holiday wish lists.)
The writing's been going slow but steady enough since you last heard from me. I've been poking at stuff for a freelance contract, scribbling down notes and doing research and tossing together early drafts of things and what have you. I've pushed myself a little harder on that than I probably should have as early in the process and wound up slightly blocked and distracted from working on other stuff so I'm trying to get into a mentally/creatively healthier pattern with the writing.
(Part of that is finally giving 'Child of the Machine' that editing/revision pass and soon-ish I'll throw the final/completed version together in PDF form and post it somewhere.)
Let's see... ah, hell. I haven't posted anything substantial since before Gencon (not counting Twitter and the occasional thought tossed up on G+). Yikes. In fact, I seem to have missed any sort of general update for September. Even for me, that's bad.
So, in a nutshell, Gencon was fun. Bought a bunch of games, got to try out some new stuff, and had Southwest Airlines utterly ruin my suitcase on the way home. I bitched at them multiple times before they replied to me to say they were looking into it. One of their baggage handlers ripped my zippers off, basically leaving the bag unusable. I'm past the worst of the reaction now but at the time I was just fucking pissed.
In other news, for those who haven't heard, 'The Phoenix Project' have started up their Kickstarter for their upcoming MMO 'City of Titans,' a spiritual successor to 'City of Heroes.' The link is here. So check it out and spread it around!
