No, this has nothing to do with ToD. ToD didn't meet this week, but the LARP I have in mind is a different one.

There's a Mage LARP on Sundays that's run by some of the folks from ToD. To my knowledge, the two games are 'aware' of each other, setting-wise, with some mild overlapping. I think the game's called the Night Lair, if their online forums are any indication. They seem to be pretty open-minded about letting other supernaturals in, though. As well as Mages they're allowing Garou, Gurahl, Bastet, and Mokole. Apparently they have some mild interest in maybe having someone play a Mummy.

Now, I haven't made my mind up one way or the other as to whether or not I'm even going to play, but I've been kicking around character ideas nonetheless. I've narrowed it down to three possibilities...

1-- A Euthanatos Mage[1] who believes in one basic concept that some among his order might consider heretical: karma doesn't always work. No matter how hard people try, bad things still happen to good people and vice-versa. Also, sometimes if a good person gets their life screwed up enough, whether it's their own fault or not, it becomes a sort of spiritual momentum that makes the problem even worse. He believes that it his the role of the Euthanatos (and himself in particular) to redistribute some of the karma and spiritual momentum. He's a social worker and counsels troubled youth, and through his work he takes in the dark energies that people in bad situations collect and transfer those energies to people who need to be taken down a peg. I haven't worked out an exact framework of the tools he uses for his magic, but it more or less works on the concept of taking in bad spiritual mojo that certain people collect and inflicting it on others... while at the same time doing good and building up extra good karma that he can more or less shunt off on somebody else. I can go into more detail on what I have worked out if anybody's curious.

2-- A Glass Walker Galliard Garou with the deed name of "Cousin's-Boyfriend's-Roommate."[2] This is a character I came up with a long time ago and would love to get the chance to play. He's probably my current favorite for Night Lair, just because he's a character I 'know' well. He's an expert on urban legends and has a network of contacts online that he can use to find out information on just about anything. After all, this is the World of Darkness, and I'd say about half of the urban legends are based on 'real' events... while the other half inspire 'real' events. Okay, okay, I'm embellishing. But only slightly.

3-- To be honest, I'm still working out the very basics on this one. I'd have more if I had the book on-hand, but I'm toying with the idea of playing a Mummy[3]. They've expressed interest in having one in the game, and it's something I'd definitely like to try playing. While I know Mage reasonably well, and I know about everything there is to know about Werewolf, I think Mummy would definitely be a chance of pace for myself and the other players. I also need to go over it with myself and work out whether or not I'm just trying to play something new and different, or new and interesting. Know what I mean?

If anybody has any thoughts, pass them around, please.

[1]-- 'Euthanatos' are Mages who work with the cycle of life, death, and rebirth to keep reality going. In a nutshell. A lot of it involves death-related magic and manipulation of fate, and there are a lot of warrior and assassin-types among their numbers based on what I've seen.

[2]-- 'Glass Walkers' are a tribe of Garou (werewolves) that live in the cities alongside humankind. 'Galliards' are their bards and storytellers. 'Deed names' are nicknames of sorts given to Garou based on their skills and exploits.
