Man, how bored am I?

I was browsing the digital channel guide that we have here, and I noticed that this channel called Noggin was showing Daria. Being an old fan of the show, I figured 'what the heck' and flipped over to it.
Now, I've watched Daria on Noggin before, and every time I find myself wondering the same question afterwards: Why do they bother?
They edit out half the best bits of the episodes for content-- even the really mild stuff-- to the point where half of the characters' personalities are missing as a result. So I ask again: why do they bother?

First off, they cut out every reference to Daria's parents spending some 'quality time' together while she and Quinn were gone, except for a look that Daria's mom gave her father while making pancakes (for example, they cut out the line about sensuous batter).
After Daria's sat on the sandwich and is complaining about the bee sting, the bump on her head, etc... they edit out the line 'A peanut butter sandwich on my ass.'
And when they were stuck in traffic with 'Everybody Hurts' playing in the background, and Trent makes a comment about how it's like the video except you can't hear everyone's thoughts... they edit out the subtitle of Daria thinking "Thank God." Thus completely f*cking up the joke entirely.
Another one that comes to mind is in the episode where they go to the huge mall as part of a school trip. Kevin comments that he knows a way that they can remember which section to meet up at. The teacher asks if he has a mnemomic device. The Noggin version cuts out the line "No, it's nothing kinky" or something to that extent.
Hmmm...
