Yeah, it's open a lot later on Thursday and Friday nights. I got some really good writing in tonight (started two new stories and got some editing done on a couple of others), and I got to be the guinea pig for some new stuff they'll be adding to the menu down there. Instead of getting their Tuna Melt bagel sandwich, they're trying Tuna Melt wraps (not because of any bullshit low-carbs thing, just trying something new). It was pretty good-- perfect for me, given that I like their Tuna Melts but I get tired of bagels after a while.

Actually, I tried to use the new web interface version I saw on someone else's LJ, and it didn't work. So I just went with the original.

...the Night Lair write-up. Only four days or so late.

Things picked up pretty quickly, as opposed to ToD. We got into character, talked out some stuff, and the plot moved in pretty quickly. A couple of vampire NPC's showed up and started picking fights... knowing when we're outclassed, the Garou backed up to regroup, and in a break in the action a Pentex helicopter sets down. Two of the regional director-type folks from Pentex come out to make a business proposition (particularly to the Garou).

Apparently there was some sort of Kinfolk wandering around just south of Mexico City that they needed some help locating. All they were asking was a chance to interrogate/interview this Kinfolk for a short time, then they'd turn him over to us and pay anyone who helped $500,000 United States dollars.

Naturally, the Garou had to talk this over. Most of the pack was in favor of going for it. The Alpha, a Silver Fang Philodox named Jeremiah, was strongly against it, arguing that anything Pentex-related can't be good. I argued, though, that they were going to do this whether or not we went along. I pointed out that I was sure that at least one of the Caern-drinking Mages was going to go along, and that I trusted Pentex slightly more when I can keep an eye on them than when I can't. And no way in hell was I going to abandon any Kinfolk to their mercies.

The sparked an argument that got folks flustered ICly... the Alpha, played by someone who has trouble with the concept of role-playing an argument as opposed to just making tests for it, insisted on putting his foot down with a Social Test (with the Persuasion Gift to back it up). Someone else challenged him for leadership of the pack and got the snot beaten out of him for it, and eventually my character said 'to hell with it.' Y'see, I kinda realized something... a Social test from a Silver Fang is not Dominate, no matter how much Andy (the player) would like to think so. So despite any possible consequences, Ken (my character) stormed off to go on the mission.

Only three PC's wound up coming along... Ken, a Strider lupus that was developing a hobby of pissing off Jeremiah, and a Son of Ether named Infius. There would have been more, but it took a little while for the ST for this plot (who was Sean, who's been officially deemed the Pentex Narrator for the moment) to get things really going, so her character just kind of got off the helicopter before it took off. Also, Lucky Steve would have been there, but he was the guy who was knocked out challenging Jeremiah for the Alpha position. I was given a telepathic message from Jeremiah saying that despite the fact that I was going, I was still a part of the pack and that Rat (the pack totem) would keep an eye on me.

So, off to South America we went. The Pentex helicopter was magically-enhanced to get us there quicker (one of the regional directors we were dealing with was a Mage). We got set up in this little paramilitary camp, when all hell broke loose when we were supposed to be getting some rest. We were being shot at by guerilla soldiers of some sort (personally, I suspect they were Ghouls of some of the vampires that live in Mexico City, but that's due to OOC reasons). We went off into the woods, chasing after a disturbance, where we found a Mexican kid in his teens, an 8-year old boy defending him with a baseball bat, and three other folks on the edge of the clearing we were at. There was the Pentex First Team that we were to be working with, a group of paramilitaries, and a bunch of guys in suits with automatic pistols. Between the First Team and the other folks with me, we managed to clear out the people who were trying to kill the Mexican kids (although the 8-year old did get gunned down brutally before we could react). The guys in suits, after being killed, melted into puddles of goo (which made things awkward, as the other Garou had literally eaten the head off of one of them and wound up having to throw it up).

The other kid, who appeared to be the Kinfolk we were looking for, ran off and ran into a bunch of the guys in suits again. Despite supposedly being Kinfolk, he was pulling off what were obviously Rage actions and had killed a bunch of the suit guys before we got there. We tore into them, and they turned out to be HIT Marks. On top of that, the Kin kid was giving off some sort of weird Umbral disturbance.

We took them down, grabbed the kid, and got the hell out of there. We got attacked by guerillas (who almost did enough damage to reduce me to Incapacitated, but I was getting real fucking lucky on those soak tests) and brought the kid back. The area, we noticed after the First Team leader dragged the kid off to put him in observation for the night, was swarming with banes. The notable thing, though, is that the "Kinfolk's" aura was purplish-- like a blacklight, almost-- and it seemed to be swarming with little bat spirits.

As for Ken's 500k, he's actually doing to be donating almost all of it to charity. He is going to keep a good bit of it because he's not stupid.

One thing that's going to be trouble, though, is the fact that his last interaction with the pack wasn't a happy one, and the Silver Fang alpha died while Ken was away. Naturally, someone's going to try and blame this on Ken running off (the old "If you'd been there, you could have saved him" argument), and then I'll point out that my mission was a success, and if Jeremiah had at least considered the wishes of the rest of the pack and gone along, then perhaps he'd have still been alive.

Anyhow, we'll see how it plays out next week.
