...but I didn't feel up to using up the minutes on my cell phone.
I'm still at AC, naturally. I'm on the all-text terminals again. I didn't do as much as in previous years (skipped the usual trip to the zoo, because let's face it-- I've seen the damn zoo), I skipped the cheesesteak run (for reasons I'll get into later). I've had a fantastic time at the con, but now that it's ending the non-Furs are starting to trickle in.
Now, a disclaimer. I have no inherent problem with non-Furs. The vast majority of my best friends aren't Furs. But that also means that most of the jerks I know are non-Furs.
I was in the elevator, coming down to the lobby to go out and grab a bite to eat with two of my roommates. There were three other Furs in the elevator and a woman who obviously wasn't with the convention. Standing in front of her was a Fur with a few extra pounds and a backpack on his back. We were talking amongst ourselves about the con, about how crappy the elevators are, that sort of thing. I couldn't tell if she was being bumped into or what, as I wasn't paying attention (although I'm pretty sure she wasn't), but out of nowhere she said to the Fur: "Excuse me, could you move? You're in my space."
Yes, that's right. Apparently, since she doesn't get to go to the convention she's apparently entitled to own a piece of the elevator. I hadn't known this.
She went on to say that she didn't like being crushed. She was really rude about it-- I can't remember what was exactly said to her, but she took on an air of someone who thinks they're better than everyone else and said: "As a registered guest of this hotel, I think I deserve a little respect." At least two of the other Furs she was bitching at pointed out that they were registered guests of the hotel as well.
She just nodded and gave them a 'That's nice' smile. Then the elevator reached the lobby and we all left.
Now, I can understand that she felt crowded in the elevator. But if you feel crowded in the elevator, ask someone to move. You don't start demanding that they get out of a piece of the elevator that you apparently own. It wasn't what she said that pissed us off, it was how she said it. There was no excuse to tell us to 'move out of her space' when 'excuse me, you are crowding me' would have worked just as well.
Fucking bitch. For someone who wants a little respect, she sure as hell isn't willing to share.
There. I feel better now. I'm not sure what time I'll be home tomorrow. I'll probably hop on and post my return here on LJ, and then hit the Book n Bean or something.
Later.
