Too much internets
Dec. 11th, 2009 12:41 pmI keep starting LJ posts in my head and never getting them to a point where they just don't seem worth the effort of posting. But it's still not something I'd want to compress for 140 characters, so my Twitter account continues to go unused. I signed up for one a while ago, but just haven't had anything worth posting there; the only thing that comes to mind would be just random inane responses to other peoples' posts, but fact of the matter is once I went down that path it would get old quick. (If I ever do seriously use it, it will probably be to keep in touch with the outside world during conventions.)
Also, I openly admit that I've been more than a little distracted trying near-futiley to keep up with Alderac's Winter Court online RP event. It's been interesting to read and I do like the parts I've been able to interact with; I've got one or two minor issues with some of it (and most of that's my fault; I'm starting to come to grips with the fact that I'm just not very good at forum games), but I think I'll save that for a private post where it won't be misconstrued by people who may have tried to get in but couldn't.
And speaking of internet stuff, what the hell is up with Google Wave? Seriously. I mean, what's it for? I'm starting to suspect that they did just make it to scare old people.
I've got a computer question for the audience, too... I've been looking at a proper video card for my computer. However, I've got an AMD processor and I've been looking at an Nvidia card. I've heard that in the past, that sort of combination has led to massive conflicts, and I'm wondering if that's still a problem today.
And one more thing... I keep putting it off, and putting it off, and finding excuses not to do it, but there's a story I'm thinking of posting here. I've been working on it for nearly forever, it feels like. It's almost done, and I've really been debating whether or not it would be worth posting here. I've discussed this story before, in passing. Thing is, I'm honestly wondering if anybody here would actually care to read it. It's set in 'The City,'
vaughn_r_demont's urban fantasy setting (you can find a bunch of stories in said setting here), and it's about a young man who winds up working in The City's Chinatown/Little Tokyo district and discovers that he's a reincarnated kitsune working with several other kitsune who live and work alongside humanity as part of a larger supernatural community.
I'd be posting the story in chunks on Fridays, starting next week; the chunks wouldn't be regularly-sized for the most part, as I didn't begin writing the story with serialization in mind. As a result, some postings would be something like 4k words while the norm would be more like 2k. But this is only if anyone actually has any honest-to-goodness interest in seeing it here, other than people who have seen part of it and would be getting the whole thing in the end anyways.
I don't do a lot with my writing on here these days, and there are reasons for that that I don't plan on getting into here and now. But would anyone be honestly interested in reading the story I've been working on?

Date: 2009-12-11 10:30 pm (UTC)No massive conflicts these days, but check with each game involved to be certain (FO3 sometimes crashes on AMD chips with any graphics).
