Man, where to start... things have been getting a little nuts lately. The semester's almost over, finals week is here, I turn 23 on Wednesday...

Yup. 23. On Wednesday. Sweet Gaia.

But I've already gotten a couple of presents-- one official, one not. The official one was a copy of Laws of the Resurrection, from Sean. Since I've been toying around with playing an Amenti in the Garou/Mage LARP ("The Night Lair"), he picked me up a copy of the book. Sweet!

And the unofficial one is from [livejournal.com profile] arashidrgn. It's a cool picture based on the meme I posted on Friday. I'm counting it as a birthday present since he did it for free and everything. If he'd rather I didn't count it as a birthday present, that's cool too.

Well, since Legion got rid of Raiyne and her siblings (who I refer to as the "Brujah triplets"-- a name rife with single-entendre if there ever was one), there weren't any feeding fuck-ups on Saturday. Legion's members did some searching for the disembodied ancient vampire, but due to the ST in charge of that being really busy, really tired, and having to leave early we won't really find out the results of our efforts until next week. We checked the site where the thing's spirit was accidentally unleashed, and the pack's two Tzimisce took a walk along the bottom of the river amongst the army of dead bodies that have been ditched there over the years.

We got a bunch of new players out of the blue. As far as I know, they were primarily from the Night Lair game. I figure their migration to ToD may have something to do with Chaz playing at Night Lair now and just having a blast with it. I'm still thinking of playing a mummy there, still kicking around character ideas. The LARP rules have made some tweaks so it's now viable to play a non-Udja-Sen Amenti outside of the Middle East.[1]

But some stuff happened, eventually... first Mages, then Wraiths. Yup. Wraiths. But not just any Wraiths. Wraiths working for the Mages. I'm pretty sure I mentioned the Mages before, the House of the Rising Sun. To my knowledge, though, the Morgantown Sabbat don't consider the HoRS to be like the other Mages. In other words, we ICly seem to think that the Technocracy is a completely different animal from traditional Magery. I'm honestly not sure if the Wraiths we've been dealing with are working for some Trad Mages or the Tech Mages, but that's probably part of the point. I'm actually resisting the urge to ask questions OOCly about it so that I can better roleplay the confusion.

But we had Wraiths running around, spying on us, and harassing various members of the Sect. One of them managed to work up enough spiritual strength to give my pack's Priest, Sid, a swift kick in the balls. Freddie wound up having to use Dementation to calm him down because they were really provoking him. Sid has the Desensitization Derangement and the Calm Heart Merit, which means that he never shows emotion, even during Frenzy. But the Wraith (played by Chaz, the head ST, who was having way too much fun with it) was really driving him nuts. So Freddie used the Dementation power 'Passion' to calm him down for a while to keep him from frenzying every three minutes.

Also, at one point, we wound up in some sort of confrontation with a Mage. I don't know if it was one of the House of the Rising Sun or a Tradition Mage, but they showed up, hit a bunch of us with a Mind effect (Freddie was able to overcome it) to keep us from outright attacking him. The guy (at least one was standing a safe distance away, shouting at us, I don't know if he had friends) was demanding to speak to a Bishop. Phillipe was the only Bishop present, but he was busy at the moment. So we sent one of the newbies over as a decoy. Y'know, someone expendable. The Mages used some sort of spell to find out that he wasn't a Bishop after all and sent him back, but he at least bought us some time to track down Phillipe.

I don't know of the details of the meeting or how it went. All I know is that shortly afterwards we were all going to get together to have some sort of in-character meeting, but folks realized what time it was so game was called for the night. Which was kind of weird, and at least one person has asked what the heck is up with it on the ToD webpage forum.

Oh, and it looks like Legion might be getting a new member... not counting any possibilities from the newbies that have shown up in town, apparently Bishop LaMonte will be running with the pack. Which is going to be extra sweet. Blade and Claw[2] is gonna get eaten, I'm sure. Y'see, LaMonte's a Ventrue antitribu. On top of that, I've learned that 9 times out of 10 if you run into LaMonte in the game, it isn't actually him. He's powerful enough that he works entirely through human thralls, focusing his vampiric powers through them and everything. But from what I know about LaMonte, I'm sure we'll be getting to deliver some damage in the midst of some power play (which I've been waiting for, ever since Chaz made a comment in the middle of a speeach about player-driven plot that there 'has to be some assassination plans going on, with three Bishops in the city now').

I think that's about it for ToD-related stuff.

Also, if anybody's curious (which, based on the responses I get to RP-related posts, you most likely aren't), I could run the mummy character ideas I'm kicking around by you guys.

[1]-- To folks who know nothing (or nearly so) about mummies in the WoD, I'll explain. The mummies (aka the Amenti) are innately tied to a field of energy known as the Web of Faith. It connects them with their divine power. The Web of Faith, however, is part of the Middle East. One of the types of mummies, Udja-Sen, are kind of screwed up in the head, a little weaker than other mummies, but they're the only sorts that can recharge their energy while outside of the Web of Faith in the tabletop rules. In the live-action rules, though, all mummies can recharge somewhat outside the Web of Faith. Udja-Sen just do it better.
[2]-- Blade and Claw is the pack of Alpha Talon, who was Bishop of the city on his own for a good long while. They're made up of the survivors of the siege we had way back when. Also, that pack alone fills up the 5 slots allotted to Gangrel, so nobody else can play one (Lasombra, Tzimisce, and Assamites are allowed in any numbers, all other clans except for a couple are allowed 5 players at any one time), the greedy fuckers.

Sunday was interesting... Pittsburgh Comicon was this last weekend, and a couple of furs I know were in Pittsburgh for the convention. Eben and I made our way up there to hang out for a few hours. Eben bought a whole bunch of artwork, and I picked up a couple of items (including a bootlegged, fansubbed copy of the first Inu-Yasha movie). It occurs to me that I thought I'd have more to write about concerning the thing. Hm.

Oh well. In other news, my class obligations are almost done. I turned in my Literature paper, I still have an online World Lit final to take, and then tomorrow I have my Economics final.

I'll check in with you guys later.
